I received a gift in disguise the other day and realized just how important my own reaction to these sometimes-at-first-seemingly-not-so-great-gifts is to the overall experience. The faster I can move from initial response of “crap” or something worse the faster I can see the gift hidden in disguise. Such was case in discovering that my iPod nano had become inadvertently disconnected from its power source and was thus incapable of playing music for me as I walked around my local wildlife refuge and lake.
Honestly, for me, at times, I find exercise to be a bit of a chore depending on my body’s energy level – like it is for everyone, I suspect – and although my body loves it (usually) I use music to keep my feet moving especially if I’m walking to keep my mind off my feet walking. Which might sound ridiculous except that science reveals that music drowns out the part of our brain that may be experiencing pain in low intensity exercises such as walking. So we’re all vindicated in using music as a distraction while we exercise our bodies – plus it just makes the time go by faster to have cool tune-age as company. What I discovered, though, with my iPod not being charged was that I was about to experience something that while perhaps not better than music can be just as effective as connecting all of us to pure energy.
That’s what music is, after all – pure energy. Science tells us that music actually exercises our brains – how about that, double the impact of exercising with music in that your brain gets in a workout, too. In addition, because we have bodies that have electrical frequency that can be measured in Megahertz (MHz) just like any other living creature, music in the same frequency for vibrant health and well-being is optimal that being 62-72 Hz. (Hertz being the beginning unit of measurement in science of a repeating current flow per second; one MHz equals 106 Hz). The Earth Herself also has a specific set of frequency vibrations and resonances known as the Schumann resonances. It’s really remarkable to see how all beings on our shared planet vibrate together – in the best possible way.
So absent my iPod that was loaded by one of my sons ages ago with therefore a really interesting eclectic mix of music what was I going to do? It was at that moment of decision when the wind gently ruffled my hair and I heard the music of the leaves as they clattered against each other beckoning me closer. Well, I thought – all right – although truth be told I wasn’t really looking forward to being alone with my mind that day given that I was struggling with releasing some emotional burdens of the past. As usual, though, my guides knew best and into Nature I went by myself sans music. And then the magic happened as I’m sure my spiritual team knew that it would.
I found a bench in a secluded area underneath some huge shady oak trees that overlooked a pond that while very low on water was nonetheless the perfect spot for me to openly express my deepest feelings safely. The leaves and wind kept time with my tears and before I knew it I was in journey space where I was gifted my own newborn self from a being of light. The message was clear in that I was being rebirthed in releasing attachment to past suffering and starting anew. The vibrational frequency of the trees, plants and wind that surrounded me was so much better for this particular moment than music would have been and I became so grateful for the disconnect from my iPod that had facilitated deep connection with Nature and the benevolent spirits surrounding me.
We become so immersed in technology that every once in awhile even if unplanned I would invite you to unplug so that you can become nestled close against the heartbeat of your mother, Gaia, and her unending wisdom and grace. I have a hunch it will soothe your soul just as it did mine that day.
