“Just pick some rocks”, she said – “only the ones that call to you to form your own rock council”. Her advice went on – “and if it makes you feel better sleep with the rocks as a way to ground yourself.” Hmmm…now this was something I hadn’t done before in my quest to deepen my own spirituality and continue on the path my soul has chosen – that being one of an intuitive healer working with the world and her inhabitants. Although I don’t know why I was surprised given that we are surrounded by a vibrating web of energy that gently supports every living organism within its hold – rocks are certainly not excluded from that as they are of the Earth. It was a lovely reminder of just how connected we all are even when our human perception leads us to believe otherwise.
For most of us we gravitate toward pretty crystals with names like selenite or amethyst or quartz – what does one call her rock council? Sir? Ma’am? Hey you? I tease, of course, and know that when I do pose a question to my now present rock council I will no doubt receive their gentle, loving guidance just as I do from any other form of energy with whom I engage. The language and tone of response may vary say from animal to plant – and that’s how it should be because their energetic physical form is very different. I’m not suggesting a hierarchy here either – each form of vibration has its own message, its own corresponding energy that fits just so within the framework of my spiritual being having a human experience. The diversity of spiritual team members can be as wide as the Milky Way and as uniquely individual as the stars and celestial bodies comprising said Milky Way. The commonality they share with me is another “gem” – forgive the pun – from the lovely shaman with whom I worked. “It’s about right relationship – they’ve not been in human form perhaps and don’t know what is too much energy for your body or not enough – so don’t hesitate to tell them it’s too much or not enough.”
So – sleeping with rocks commenced and I was delighted with the results of a much sounder and deeper sleep. I cleansed them first in a mineral salt water bath along with my own body so that we might attune to each other. The rocks were happy with the ritual and communicated that they were ready, willing and able to be of service to me wherever our mutual paths might go. I placed them on the opposite side of the bed from me high up next to the other pillow and take hold of whichever rock speaks to me while I drift off to sleep. The warmth from my hands meets with the warmth of the rock and I am gently, lovingly placed on the skin of the Earth herself and feel her arms reach up to hold me in her embrace – a lullaby of rocks.
