Always! Let me explain. It’s a cyclical trend within certain metaphysical circles to claim that one is a Healer – capital H with quotation marks – because after all, who wouldn’t want to be known as a “Healer”? An individual capable of somehow magically adding or subtracting whatever the issue or energy is from an individual or their life so that the perception of the healee (one being healed) is that – “FINALLY! – All is well with me! Hallelujah!” Reputations can be built on the word healer alone absent an actual skill set because among the human species that’s what we want – to be healed. To be raised out of our sorry state and transported with little or no effort to the land of happiness and ease – in other words, an instant fix. We’re not the brightest species on the planet and what with being so disconnected from Nature and our own innate healing abilities – that’s right, you CAN facilitate your own healing – we get transfixed on the neon lights blinking around whatever new age sign beckons its fingers to us the most. We forget that we are at our most powerful when we initiate and complete our own healing – really, there’s no substitute for that on the planet. Our bodies manage our health while pointing us toward radiant vitality all the time and our souls are supremely supported by entities both in physical and non-physical form who have as their sole purpose (no pun intended) our evolving as sentient beings. Actually, we’ve got it made here. So why do we place – inadvisably at times and often way too much – trust in another human whose path isn’t that much different than ours all because they say they are a Healer? Is it because we perceive them to be in a better or different place than we are currently and we so want to be where they are? Is it based on competition to do what they do and be who they are? I had a client tell me once – “I just want to BE YOU!” I’ll never forget that moment because I actually shuddered – without that individual’s own light and energy the world would be a changed place and I would not be who I am – we are all that connected.
Most certainly there are humans who are skilled at facilitating healing for others. We all stray from our paths from time to time and need support and encouragement to keep going and to begin the next part of becoming ourselves. The individuals in this category rarely make it about themselves because they understand they are merely channeling energy that actually belongs to the other person. They are – in shamanic terms – a hollow bone. They are deliberately remaining clear of their own ego and emotions so that whatever needs to come forth through them drawn in consciously and unconsciously by the other individual can flow easily and smoothly.
These facilitators may use from time to time plants and crystals to support the self-healing process because as these tools have different physical form and therefore different energy they can act as agents of transformation based on the intention of the humans involved. The innate attributes of plants and crystals that we may perceive to be doing the healing are, in fact, acting in the same way that another human “healer” does – they are active channels of the energy belonging to whomever they are working with as that individual being has access to the same good stuff we perceive the crystal or plant to have. So if you are in need of more connection to Earth and you are using onyx, for example, the dense cell structure of onyx will connect you and reflect back to you that connection you may have temporarily misplaced. A plant whose leaves are steeped in water for tea or distilled into an oil offers to you the same qualities that you once had (and still have access to) on your path.
All that’s needed is for sacred space to be held by all beings present and an intention set for the highest and best good. Most of the other earthlings on our planet are clear about their connection to each other, to the Earth and to the collective consciousness of all beings. They simply ARE in the space of knowing how they can contribute to other animals, plants and crystals because they recognize their interconnectedness to each other and that they each play a part in keeping the whole balanced. They serve as reminders of the whole being that you actually are, empowered to serve as your own healer with a little help from other entities on the planet. In this way, we are all healers for our own lives and can facilitate healing for others when acting on their behalf and not because we have something they don’t. It’s time to claim your birthright as a fully-functioning and empowered being who is completely capable of self-healing. From this new place of heart and strength I invite you to serve as witness and facilitator to other beings who need your support just as you are always supported. Let the (self) healing begin!
